A thrilling new biography of Dwight Eisenhower set in the months leading up to D-Day, when he grew from a well-liked general into one of the singular figures of American history. "This is hands-down the most deeply researched, sensitive, intimate, and nuanced portrait of Eisenhower." -DAVID KENNEDY, recipient of the Pulitzer Prize for History | "A masterly portrait." -General WESLEY CLARK | "Gorgeously written. The only must-read book to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day." -ALEX KERSHAW, New York Times bestselling author | STARRED reviews from Publishers Weekly, Kirkus, and Library JournalOn June 6, 1944, General Dwight Eisenhower addressed the thousands of American troops preparing to invade Normandy, exhorting them to embrace the "Great Crusade" they faced. Then, in a fleeting moment alone, he drafted a resignation letter in case the invasion failed. In The Light of Battle, Michel Paradis, acclaimed author of Last Mission to Tokyo, paints a vivid portrait of Dwight Eisenhower as he learns to navigate the crosscurrents of diplomacy, politics, strategy, family, and fame with the fate of the free world hanging in the balance. In a world of giants-Churchill, Roosevelt, De Gaulle, Marshall, MacArthur-it was a barefoot boy from Abilene, Kansas, who would master the art of power and become a modern-day George Washington. Drawing upon meticulous research and a voluminous body of newly discovered records, letters, diaries, and firsthand accounts from three continents, Paradis brings Eisenhower to life, as a complicated man who craved simplicity, a genial cipher whose smile was a lethal political weapon. With a page-turning pace and an eye for the overlooked, Paradis interweaves the grand arc of history with more human concerns, bringing readers into the private moments that led to Eisenhower's most pivotal decisions. By deftly integrating the personal and the political, he reveals how Eisenhower's rise both reflected and was integral to America's rise as a global superpower. An unflinching look at how character is forged, and leadership is learned, The Light of Battle breathes new life into the man who made "the leader of the free world" the mantle of the American presidency.

Love BUT they STINK!!
Color: 26 - Forest Green, Size: King
I have the dark green sheets and would give them 5 stars if it weren’t for the fact that they smell absolutely horrible. I am so surprised after reading reviews that more people don’t mention it?! Maybe it’s more prominent in darker colors but I have washed these now 3 different times even with scent beads and still hate the smell. I wish I could accurately describe what it smells like— it’s just not good and for some reason, body heat only exacerbates it and makes the smell even worse and I wake up feeling like a smell like the sheets… which isn’t a good thing. Besides that, I do really enjoy them. They feel great on your skin, haven’t been pilling near the foot area (which is what makes us go through so many sheets) and I love the color. I wish the smell didn’t kill them so badly for me ☹️

So soft and amazing quality
Color: 12 - Light Beige, Size: Twin
I can't tell you if they're cooling or not yet. The weather took a turn for the cold so I haven't put them on the bed yet. But the quality..omg it's exceptional! These are insanely soft! Not slippery like satin but not scratchy like percale. They're like the best of both worlds..light as satin but nicely weighty like percale. I don't know what kind of sorcery this is but these are literally better than those 6-zillion count Egyptian cotton sheets that cost more than the GDP of a small nation. These are exceptional!! Soft as butter but still feel like they'll last a while and not let you fall out of bed like silk lol. When you fold them, they snap nicely. They seem to have a lived in look..like they'll never be utterly wrinkle-free but who cares..they're smooth, soft and supposed to be cooling. I never thought I'd find anything more comfortable than cotton sheets but these are even better. The colors are ok. Pretty basic but they are true to life..some others look different online than when you get them..not these colors online are accurate. This was a great deal and I'd recommend a thousand times over!

I bought these sheets based on reviews and price. Very pleased with quality. Definitely cooling and comfortable to lay on. Very smooth, almost satiny, to touch. Got in dark gray, color very pretty. Great quality for the price.

The softest sheets ever! 💙
Color: 05 - Dusty Blue, Size: Queen, Color: 05 - Dusty Blue, Size: Queen
This sheets quality feels great! It feels a little heavy but comfortable. I love the way it just drops. It feels cool to the touch, and so so gently on my skin! I previous had gotten a 100% cotton sheets from this same brand and it feels soooo rough on my skin, but this one is great! Best money spent! Bamboo material! I'm never going back! I got the dusty blue, in the photo is looks gray because of light but I love the blue color, it looks great!

Comfy, cool
Color: 01 - Dark Grey, Size: Queen
This is my first time buying rayon/ bamboo sheets, and now I finally see what I've been missing. Very comfortable, soft, and feel really nice against the skin. Nice for this price point too. I took off one star because they do tend to wrinkle quickly, so I have to readjust them every night before going to bed. Also be aware that oil from your skin and hair products tend to stain them very quickly, and the stains are not easy to get out. But I'm ok with that as a trade-off for the comfort!
