In ancient Greece the Sileni were companions of Dionysus, the god of wine, vineyards and theatre. Named in their honour, Sileni Estates produces a range of wines made to be great collaborators, with a talent for enhancing flavours and textures.

The Cellar Selection Chardonnay is grown on a variety of soil types in Hawke’s Bay, including gravels, silt and clay loam. The different characteristics of these sites provide depth and complexity of flavour.

After harvest at optimum ripeness, grapes were destemmed and gently pressed. Cool ferment temperatures retain fruit aromatics and flavour. A small portion of the blend is aged in French oak barriques. Fifty percent of the blend underwent a malolactic fermentation to introduce some creaminess and complexity.
