"This is Your Life", the new album from anthemic rock trio, Augustines, is an urgent, resonant wakeup call, taking stock of where we are now and what the future holds... an open road ahead. The band's revelatory debut single demands from it's audience: Are we alive? Or are we just kidding ourselves? These were two questions that Augustines had swirling around their minds when they set off in the deep winter of 2015 to begin writing songs for their third album, "This Is Your Life". Songs birthed from William McCarthy's travels and times spent in Thai Town, Los Angeles; Dublin, Ireland; and Devon, England. Birthed from Eric Sanderson's experiences rooted down in his Brooklyn studio near the waterfront. Much of it was projection - a flashback to one of the many faces seen on the road with the band, or on one of McCarthy's many cross-country motorcycle pilgrimages. Putting himself in the shoes of those people and writing a way out of the blues. While the road does get lonely, he saw hope there as well. Everyone weaves in and out of being an outsider in their lifetime. Augustines albums are not frivolous affairs. They make big, heart-wrenching sounds, music hewn from granite, from the very ground we stand on, the subject matter urgent and vital. Their debut in 2011, "Rise Ye Sunken Ships" was born from tragedy, the 2009 suicide of McCarthy's brother. The songs had been largely sketched in McCarthy and multi-instrumentalist Eric Sanderson's previous group, Pela, and while that project had been unable to withstand the blow of his death, the songs were too strong to disappear. And so they were reborn in Augustines, with drummer Rob Allen (the rock of the band) completing the magic number. The eponymously titled album that followed in 2014 drew strength from the incredible reaction to "Ships" at festivals and on tour. It concerned itself with plotting a course away from tragedy. How do you rebuild? Like this. "The debut album was a concept record about the fragility of family while passing through the tribulations of America," says McCarthy. "The second one was about moving forward from that. This one has a lot of themes about isolation and battling loneliness. Tackling that shit head on." Recorded in New York, Los Angeles and Bridgeport, CT, with Joe Chiccarelli and long-time associate Peter Katis (The National, Interpol, Frightened Rabbit) and featuring amazing Senegalese vocalists Pape and Cheikh on the beautiful "May You Keep Well" and "Running In Place", "This Is Your Life" revels in a sense of realization. The thesis is in the title: "it's a battle cry," says McCarthy. "This Is Your Life. We're here, now, and this is it, buddy. You're alive. I know it's a grind but you can do anything. Being alive is amazing. And it's not forever. What are we going to do?" "This Is Your Life" sees Augustines experimenting and traveling down new roads. Drummer Rob Allen elaborates: "we wanted to spread our wings a little bit on this record. We had in the past flirted with samples and what-not, but never really on the percussive side. We had great fun messing and experimenting with older analog instruments like 808's and 909's as well as more modern instrumentation, like the Roland Spd-SX and Maschine. For me it's clear. This record shows we've tried to grow as musicians and not stay in our comfort zone. To grow as people. To improve" For Augustines, it seems clear what they're going to do: grow, soar. Their second album cycle ended with 3,300 ecstatic fans claiming the band to their hearts at a sold-out Roundhouse show in London. "A pinnacle moment," says McCarthy. But rather than a pinnacle, the monumental songs of "This Is Your Life" suggest that in many ways, that was only the beginning. The horizon has their name etched high and wide into it.

Excellent Wireless Mouse with Great Performance
Size: Standard
The Razer Basilisk V3 X HyperSpeed is an outstanding gaming mouse. The wireless connection is fast and reliable with no noticeable lag, and the mechanical switches feel crisp and responsive. It’s comfortable to hold even during long sessions, and the customizable buttons add a lot of flexibility for both gaming and productivity. Battery life is impressive, and overall it delivers great performance for the price.

Great mid range mouse option
Size: Standard
My previous mice include the Razer Deathadder V2, Razer Basilisk V2 X Hyperspeed, and the Logitech Pro X Superlight.
This is easily the most comfortable mouse I've used, the contours feel perfect and the extra button the side is well placed and feels like a natural addition. I've personally not found the weight an issue, though it is much heavier that most other mice, even ones that use a AA battery. I do prefer the external battery as I disliked having to plug in my mouse every so often to charge it, something that became much more frequent as the internal battery lost capacity.
The new switches feel excellent, a noticeable improvement from the V2. Performance is good in all areas with the exception of the scroll wheel, which feels like it eats inputs for breakfast lunch and dinner. Basically when scrolling fast the Basilisk V3 seems to skip inputs. My V2 had similar issues and eventually I had to replace it when the scroll wheel started acting haywire and scrolling on its own or backwards. Something to keep an eye on.
Appearance is unremarkable. The new RGB scroll wheel is appreciated, but fairly simple in customization. I have it set to static color but you can have it be reactive to clicking, color cycle, breathing, or a few other options with Razer Synapse.
One small quirk is that if you have auto sleep on, it takes a bit to actually turn back on when using it again. Whereas the Razer Deathadder V2 was near instant in my experience, the Basilisk V3 takes a few seconds to get going, which sounds like nothing but does make a difference when it happens so often.
TL;DR - It's a really good mouse at this price point, good performance and great comfort. Only negative is the scroll wheel and the weight if that matters to you.

Not as good as a 3S, but less expensive. Hopefully better quality switches than the 3S.
Size: Standard
I like this mouse, but it could be better. I purchased it to replace a Logitech MX-Master 3S, which is a great mouse except the microswitch for the left button stopped being reliable after less than three years. While that's a reasonable life for some users, perhaps, it seemed inadequate to me. My use case is general pc use for searching the web, writing emails, and managing finances. The Logitech wasn't used every day.
The 3S has a higher palm hump, which the Basilisk lacks and I really prefer. The Basilisk is similar in overall size to the 3S, so for the most part it fits my hand sufficiently well. Hump size is the main downside to the Basilisk. That, plus the battery is not rechargeable. What, in 2026?! But I've adapted to it, and battery life so far has been very good. It has the combo BT + 2.4 gHz connectivity with a dongle. Both choices work very well and reliably. I like the center wheel size and action a lot. I like the slip pads on the bottom of the mouse. It has a very handy and perfectly responsive third thumb button that I don't currently use but gamers may find it useful. Only time will tell if Razer's microswitch quality is more durable, reliable, and longer lived than the crap switches Logitech put into the otherwise very good 3S. I have used the Basilisk about two months at the time of this review.

Responsive and versatile
Size: Standard
Great mouse. Love that I can change the cursor speed with the middle button. Very light. It does burn through battery pretty quick, but it only takes one AA battery and others I've used have needed 2. Is very responsive.

Excellent mouse for work and play games
Size: Standard
My husband is a programmer, and he needs a new mouse, since he loves brand I think that he would loves this present and I was right!! The mouse is excellent 👌🏻. Very good quality, good stability, it feels great to the touch, very nice color, not to much light at night. He works in an Alienware, and the connection was really easy.
