Unlike a traditional boiler, thermoblocks offer rapid warm-up times paired with efficient, on-demand water usage. Turn on the Capresso EC100, and it will be ready to brew in just a few moments. ThermoBlock technology channels the water through the heating element while minimizing the amount of water heated to what the EC100's user demands. This process ensures water does not become stale sitting in a boiler for an extended period of time. The ThermoBlock boiler in the Capresso EC100 is a smaller version of the boilers found in the Jura-Capresso Automatic Coffee Centers.

The Capresso EC100 is equipped with a fully versatile and locking portafilter (the handle into which you put coffee). The EC100 includes pressurized filter baskets for a double shot of espresso and also a single shot (1 ounce) basket. The single shot basket also works for E.S.E. (Easy Serving Espresso) pods. Not sure exactly how finely to grind your coffee? We recommend a grind in the fine range between automatic drip and espresso.
