The Blackmagic Design Spares - Pocket Cinema Camera 4K (PCC4K) - Service Kit is a comprehensive set of external hardware components designed to refresh the physical integrity of the camera. Because the PCC4K is the most common entry point into the Blackmagic ecosystem, these units often see heavy use in "run-and-gun" environments where small parts are easily lost or damaged.

Kit Components

The PCC4K kit is nearly identical to the original 6K kit (as they share the same chassis), but it is specifically tailored for the MFT (Micro Four Thirds) body:

• Rubber Port Cover Set: A full set of replacement flaps for the left-side inputs. These protect the Full-size HDMI, USB-C, 2-pin Power, Mini XLR, and 3.5mm Jacks from dust and moisture.

• Battery Door Assembly: The spring-loaded door for the LP-E6 battery compartment, including the metal hinge pin.

• Chassis Screw Set: A complete collection of the specialized Torx and Phillips screws required to seal the carbon fiber polycarbonate housing.

• 1/4"-20 Threaded Inserts: Replacement metal bushings for the top and bottom mounting points (often needed if a tripod plate has been overtightened and stripped the threads).

Why the PCC4K Needs This Kit

• The "Flap" Issue: The rubber port covers on the PCC4K are known to stiffen over time or tear off after repeated use. Missing covers expose the Main PCB directly to the elements, which can lead to catastrophic short circuits from a single drop of rain.

• Mounting Fatigue: Because the camera body is made of a composite rather than solid metal, the metal 1/4"-20 inserts can eventually "spin" or pull out of the plastic if used with heavy cages and no support.

Technical Installation Note

Repair Level: 1 (Easy). Most of these parts can be replaced without opening the camera electronics.

1. Port Covers: To install new covers, you typically need to use a small pair of needle-nose tweezers to pull the rubber "anchor" through the hole in the chassis. Lubricating the tip of the rubber anchor with a tiny drop of water makes this significantly easier.

2. Threaded Inserts: If you are replacing a stripped 1/4"-20 mount, you must ensure the internal "locking" tabs of the new insert are seated correctly so it doesn't spin when you tighten your tripod plate.

3. Battery Door: Replacing the door requires sliding the metal hinge pin out. Be careful not to lose the tiny torsion spring; it is under tension and will fly across the room if not held down during removal.

4. Screw Lengths: When replacing missing screws, ensure you are using the correct length provided in the kit. The screws for the bottom plate are often a different length than the ones near the top handle.

Expert Advice: If your 1/4"-20 mount is stripped, check the internal plastic "boss" (the pillar the insert sits in). If the plastic is cracked, a new insert won't help—you may need a drop of high-strength epoxy or a replacement of the bottom chassis plate.
