Six Questions Your PostNet Franchise Financial Model Must Answer

We built this franchise unit financial model using detailed research on the retail service industry. Key assumptions like the $39,950 franchise fee, $6,500 monthly rent, and 5% royalty are pre-populated and fully editable to match your specific territory. The model tracks everything from Year 1 revenue of $675,000 to the 4-year payback period.

What is the profitability trajectory?

The unit hits profitability quickly, reaching its break-even date in April 2026. Annual EBITDA is projected to grow from $117,000 in the first year to $355,000 by Year 5, which is defintely a strong result for this sector. This franchise profitability analysis shows that calculating profitability for shipping and print centers depends heavily on scaling B2B contracts to $100,000 annually.

Improve Profitability

  • Scale B2B contracts to $100,000
  • Optimize digital printing margins
  • Control $6,500 monthly rent
[dynamic_pic9]

How much capital is required and how is it allocated?

To launch this unit, you need a startup budget for independent franchise owner that covers $294,950 in initial CAPEX. This includes the $39,950 franchise fee, $120,000 for leasehold improvements, and $70,000 for printing equipment. Knowing how to calculate franchise startup costs accurately prevents mid-project funding gaps during the build-out phase.

Major Capital Uses

  • Leasehold Improvements: $120,000
  • Printing Equipment: $70,000
  • Initial Franchise Fee: $39,950
  • Computers and POS: $25,000
[dynamic_pic10]

What is the return on investment?

Investors can expect a 4-year payback period on their total investment. The model calculates an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 3.22% and a Return on Equity (ROE) of 0.69 based on the 5-year cash flow. This helps you understand how to estimate ROI for a new franchise before committing to a long-term commercial lease.

Investor Metrics

  • Years to Payback: 4 Years
  • Internal Rate of Return: 3.22%
  • Return on Equity: 0.69
  • Year 5 EBITDA: $355,000
[dynamic_pic11]

What is the break-even point?

Monthly break-even is achieved in Month 4, driven by the ramp-up of shipping and digital printing services. The primary hurdle is covering franchise operational expenses, including $11,550 in monthly management salaries and $6,500 in rent. These financial planning tools for new franchise owners allow you to test how volume changes impact this date.

Reach Break-Even Faster

  • Secure June 2026 B2B contracts
  • Maximize shipping clerk productivity
  • Minimize $1,200 monthly utility waste
[dynamic_pic12]

What is the cash runway and lowest cash point?

The lowest cash balance occurs in April 2026 at $954,000, which accounts for the initial investment and early operating losses. Maintaining this buffer is critical during the first 120 days of operation. Using a franchise investment analysis spreadsheet ensures you have enough runway to cover the $68,000 manager salary while traffic builds.

Protect Cash Flow

  • Phase print technician hiring
  • Negotiate leasehold payment terms
  • Delay $20,000 furniture spend
[dynamic_pic13]

How do Low, Medium, and High scenarios change the outcome?

The High scenario assumes faster adoption of B2B contracts and higher graphic design volume, which can push Year 5 revenue well beyond the $1.3 million base case. This business plan template for retail service franchise allows you to see how a 10% revenue dip affects your 4-year payback. It is a vital step in any franchise business plan template.

Hit the High Case

  • Execute geo-fenced digital ads
  • Host small business workshops
  • Upsell custom marketing collateral

Excellent Robot Vacuum, Especially for the Price
Size: 11S, Size: 11S
I have been an iRobot Roomba buyer since 2007. My last Roomba bit the dust this month, and I did a ton of research before buying a replacement. I went with the Eufy for a few reasons: price point, cleaning power, quietness, and sleek design. Price: Very reasonable. Almost reasonable enough that I'd consider getting another one for my second floor. For now I'll just carry it upstairs. Cleaning power: This thing sucks... It's suction is much stronger than my Roombas have had. It picks up so much dust and pet hair. We do a full vacuum every other week with my Dyson, so I think of the robot vacuum as a supplemental vacuum. I was shocked at how much was in the dustbin after it's inaugural cleaning! The picture attached to this is from that cleaning. It also gets a ton of dust in the little dust filter. In one of the video reviews I watched, the reviewer said it didn't pick up anything in that dust filter... So maybe my carpet is particularly dusty, because it has a thick layer after each cleaning. Quietness: I work from my home office, and this thing is quiet enough that I don't even turn it off during conference calls. This might be the thing I am most impressed with. My last Roomba was LOUD-- you couldn't even have a conversation with someone in the same room, let alone someone on speakerphone. Sleek design: I love/hate this. It definitely looks modern and cool, and more like an art piece than an appliance, but it shows all my finger prints, and now I keep a glasses cleaning cloth nearby so I can rub it down. I suppose if I only use the remote and never pick it up, this won't be an issue. A few considerations: I was hoping to find a robot vacuum that wouldn't eat my carpets' tassels, but I don't think that vacuum exists. I have only used the Eufy 4 times so far, and it doesn't always get its brushes wrapped around the long tassels, but it does sometimes. It seems to realize it sooner than my Roomba did at least. The Roomba would sometimes rip gobs of them off in a single cleaning. I try to tuck them under the edge of the rug and that doesn't seem to bother Eufy. It has pulled off probably 2 tassels so far. The cleaning pattern seems pretty random. I saw some other vacuums that chart out complex maps of your home, and Eufy doesn't seem to do that. But, it doesn't seem to matter, because it still hits every spot in the rooms. I'm a little concerned about durability. My Roombas ran for many, many years with easily replaceable parts. We'll have to see if Eufy has the same longevity. All in all- I'm very happy with my purchase and definitely recommend it!

Robot Vacuum With Decent Cleaning but Too Much Maintenance
Size: E28
This robot vacuum was fairly simple to set up, and the battery life is actually pretty good. When it comes to cleaning, it does a solid job picking up dirt and debris, and overall the suction works well for everyday vacuuming. However, the navigation and sensors really missed the mark for me. It struggled to recognize certain items around my house. For example, the mat under my cat’s food bowl kept getting caught because the vacuum didn’t detect it properly. It also had trouble recognizing furniture like my ottomans and would repeatedly run into them. Another issue was how it handled different floor types. It’s supposed to be able to recognize surfaces like carpet versus hard flooring, but that didn’t always work correctly. At one point it even tried cleaning my carpet when it shouldn’t have. It also struggled with room detection and didn’t consistently recognize different areas of my home, even when placed directly in them. I bought this hoping for more of a “set it and forget it” type of appliance since I work a lot and wanted something that would keep my floors clean without much attention. Unfortunately, that wasn’t my experience. I often had to redo the mapping or move the vacuum around so it could recognize spaces and objects properly. There were a few positives though. The app is very helpful and easy to use, and the vacuum communicates clearly through notifications. It lets you know when things like the water level or cleaning bin need attention, which I appreciated. Maintenance like emptying it isn’t required very often either. It’s also a little noisy. Not extremely loud, but it talks frequently and you definitely know when it’s running. Since I work third shift and sleep during the day, that was a bit frustrating. Another issue was that it struggled to cross small entry thresholds between rooms. Even a small lip between rooms would sometimes stop it from moving into another space. In the end, I decided to return it. While it does vacuum fairly well, the navigation issues and constant adjustments made it more of a hassle than a convenience. For the price, I expected something more hands-off, and unfortunately it required more attention than it was worth for me.

Great and Easy to Use!
Size: 11S
Background: I have a shedding dog, so I bought this in hopes that by running it every-day, it would pick up on some of the dog hair on the floor. What I like: -VERY easy to use. -easy to follow instructions -has a sticker on the bottom so if it ever stops and beeps, you can flip it over and it says exactly what the beeps mean (one beep means one thing, two beeps means another--which is SUPER helpful!). -color on top clearly shows what mode it is in (blue-ready to go, orange-needs to charge, red-problem to fix-such as emptying the tray). -very quiet. I can work on stuff with it in the room and it does not bother me at all (my dog also does not mind it). -works great on white carpet and easily transitions from my living room to dining room (which has a slight bump). -when its low on battery, it does not die where it is at, it just turns off the vacuum then finds the home doc and charges itself. -just works really well. I run it everyday and I am impressed by how much stuff it gets (especially when it goes under things such as the couch). -if it gets caught on a cord, it usually takes 5-10 seconds but then it stops the suctioning and moves away (releasing the cord or other item). However if you have a small cord you should put it up (and you should regardless, I just noticed it doing this a few times and thought it was neat, but I do try to pick up all cords). What could be improved: -nothing really in particular to this. -It does not work well on anything black, but this is true for all robot vacuums. It sometimes gets stuck when it goes on the black carpet we have with the black chairs (I suspect because it can not detect them), but this has not happened often. My dog has a black mat for her food and water and it always bumps into it and spills the water, but again, this would occur with any robot vacuum. -Also, make sure the doc is against a wall because otherwise it will move and never charge (self explanatory, but I did not do the first time and it kept trying to doc and was just pushing the doc around the floor). -Finally, you do have to dump out the vacuum particles almost every time you run it (if you do a full circle/battery cycle). It is really easy to dump and beeps when it needs to be emptied. Again, nothing really negative, just something to note. Overall, I really like this! It does a nice job cleaning up the dog hair and other things that get on my floor and saves me a lot of time not vacuuming daily. If you have a dog, I would watch them with this first before you use it. My dog was initially scared of it but sniffed it's "butt" and now they are cool and she does not mind it at all. Pleased with this product and would recommend! :) **UPDATE** On another note, Eufy has amazing customer service! I received an email from them addressing each of my "what could be improved" components with more information on the product. Very impressed.

ROB is amazing.
Size: E25 Black
I have to first explain that I have named my E25, his name is now ROB and will be referred to as ROB going forward. ROB has been an amazing addition to our family and yes I said Family. ROB was easy to set up, all instructions were clear and easy to follow. The first day, I followed ROB everywhere afraid he would get stuck on a rug, or would have difficulty making it over the transitions of our flooring. But ROB had no problems what so ever. And honestly, I found myself amazed at the quality and endurance of ROB. He was jumping over transitions, flipping from mop to vacuum at the proper times and would suck up a dog hair bunny from 3 feet away! As a home with 2 big dogs (over 100 pounds each) that looses enough fur to make a new sweater everyday, ROB has done an amazing job! It’s been a week with ROB and I have found that he takes no prisoners, there was an area that I didn’t want him going into because I had boxes laid out, I was lazy and just made a make shift barrier so he wouldn’t proceed through the area, but ROB was persistent and was able to move the barrier so he could do his job. So, if you want a robot that will jump a shoe wall, ROB is your man! ROB navigates around a dog toys, around dog bowls, and can even get rid of the doggy dribbles when they drink. I have ROB set up to vacuum during the day and at night, he vacuums and mops. My 2 dog sons and my family are all happy with ROB as he is quiet and doesn’t scare them. Most days they just watch ROB do his magic on our floors. ROB also cleans himself, he will run home to clean his butt after mopping and will empty his own debris from his vacuuming. I really don’t know how I survived without ROB this long!! I waited 6 months before I finally purchased ROB after seeing his brother BOB in action at my Cousins house. So don’t be like me and wait, just make the purchase. You won’t regret it.

Probably the best robot vacuum mop you can buy in this price range
Size: E25 Black
Its pretty solid device. Honestly its so smart that it vaccumed and mopped my bathroom and ofcourse the wet hair stuck on the wet floor wasnt vacuumed the first pass but it then waited for the second pass to pick it up when it was dry. Made my entire house look so clean its actually amazing. It actually mops and get all the corners with dust. One thing thouhh is the side brushes tend to get tangled with hair and thread but uts very snap on snap off brushes so removing the stuck hair is super easy and only sometimes happens. The suction is amazing too its very strong. It moos the floor with clean water with solution so its actually cleaning well. Overall 10/10
