This is the only 7-piece Damascus kitchen knife set at JW Steel Crafts with cream bone and rosewood handles and a Cleaver, Gyuto, Santoku, Bunka, Utility, and Paring configuration at 58–60 HRC.

The History Behind This Blade

Japanese kitchen knife culture developed distinct blade profiles for every cutting task — the gyuto for daily prep, the santoku for vegetable work, and the bunka for angled detail cuts. Western craft added the heavy cleaver for breakdown work. When both traditions merged in professional kitchens, a seven-blade system emerged that covered every task without redundancy. Bone and rosewood handle construction came from American custom knife craft — two dense natural materials joined flush for grip, visual contrast, and long-term durability. The JW Steel Crafts bone and rosewood Damascus set carries that full combined tradition in every forged blade.

What Is Inside the Set

  • Cleaver — Heavy chopping through dense vegetables, thick meat, and whole poultry, largest at 13 inches

  • Gyuto — Primary daily prep blade for slicing proteins and general kitchen tasks

  • Santoku — Flat edge for push cuts through produce and controlled precision slicing

  • Bunka — Reverse tanto tip for angled detail cuts the santoku cannot reach

  • Utility — Mid-size trimming and portioning between gyuto and paring

  • Paring — Peeling, scoring, and close-hand detail work, smallest at 8 inches

Blade Performance

Every blade is forged from 1095 high-carbon steel and 15N20 nickel alloy, stacked and hammer-welded into a single billet. Repeated folding multiplies the layer count and strengthens the grain structure. Acid etching reveals the flowing Damascus contrast pattern across every blade flat. Heat treatment brings each blade to 58–60 HRC — hard enough to hold a sharp working edge through daily prep without chipping. Full tang construction runs through every bone and rosewood handle and spreads weight evenly from blade tip to handle base across all seven knives.

Handle Construction

Every handle combines cream bone scales with dark rosewood spacer blocks. Bone stays firm and dry during active prep. Rosewood adds structural hardness and deep grain contrast against the pale bone. Natural variation means no two handles in the set look identical. Silver pins lock every handle firmly to the full tang. No bolster sits between blade and handle, giving each knife a clean, lightweight profile throughout.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the santoku and bunka?

The santoku has a flat edge for push cutting through produce. The bunka has a reverse tanto tip for angled detail cuts the santoku cannot reach precisely.

What steel is used in these blades?

Every blade uses 1095 high-carbon steel and 15N20 nickel alloy, hammer-welded and hardened to 58–60 HRC.

Can I get this set engraved?

Yes. Contact JW Steel Crafts before ordering to confirm options and processing time.

Are all seven knives full tang?

Yes. The blade steel runs the full length through every bone and rosewood handle for strength and long-term durability.

How do I sharpen Damascus kitchen knives?

Use a whetstone at 15–20 degrees per side. Avoid pull-through sharpeners — they damage the Damascus layer structure.

Is this set suitable as a gift?

Yes. The matched Damascus blades, cream bone and rosewood handles, and complete blade configuration make this a strong gift for chefs, culinary graduates, and knife collectors.

Works great and easy to use
Kitchen gadgets have a way of accumulating. You buy them with good intentions, use them twice, and then they live in a drawer forever. This milk frother is not that. It's one of those rare small appliances that earns its spot on the counter every single morning. The wireless charging is the feature that sets this apart from every other handheld frother on the market. No fumbling with a charging cable, no little dock that takes up extra space — just set it down and it charges. It sounds like a small thing until you've used it, and then it feels like the obvious way every handheld kitchen tool should work. The fact that it charges quickly means you're never waiting around or reaching for it only to find it dead. Three speed settings give you real control over the result. Low for gentle mixing, high for a proper thick foam that holds up in a latte or cappuccino the way it should. The stainless steel whisk feels durable and substantial, not like something that's going to bend or corrode after a few months of daily use. The whole thing is well-made in a way you notice immediately, solid, balanced, and built to last. The Starlight Black finish looks sharp, too. It's sleek enough to leave out without cluttering your kitchen aesthetic, which matters when you're using something every day. If you make lattes or cappuccinos at home and you're still shaking a jar of milk or settling for flat foam, this is the upgrade you didn't know you needed. Easy to use, quick to charge, and genuinely well crafted.

Three Speeds, Two Charge Options, Three Interchangeable Whisk Heads
I like this electric milk frother—it enables you to simulate café-style drinks at home. Three speed settings make it easy to switch from mixing matcha to whipping up thick, creamy foam for lattes. It also comes with three interchangeable whisk heads, so it is not just for coffee—I made French Toast with it the 1st time out. It can handle other tasks, like blending eggs, cream, and even protein shakes. The LED battery level display is up front right below the power button and shows state of charge as well as increasing battery level during the charging cycle. The dual charging options—either the magnetic charge stand or the USB-C charge port on the side of the motor—make it convenient for home or for travel. Best of all, all the detachable whisk heads clean up fast, so using it daily does not feel like a chore. I will say that I prefer a momentary one-speed switch instead of cycling the speeds (9K RPM, 11K RPM & 13K RPM) with the power switch. It spins up very fast and to shut it off you have to keep pressing the power button through faster speeds and before you can shut it off, it overflows the cup sometimes. You can also long press the power button to turn it off, but it usually takes too long and still overflows—I wish it was more controllable. I found that the corkscrew-hook head is the best of the three to tame that effect.

Good companion to a coffee setup
This electric frother is a great companion to have in a kitchen/coffee setup and I've been using it to mix my morning coffee. The frother includes a stand which serves as the charging base and multiple attachments (likely won't really see too much use realistically). My only downside is that the stand situation is a bit lackluster as the wireless charging feature requires you to line up the two pins at the top to the stand and balance the frother. Alternatively the frother also has a USB C charging port (sadly not USB C compliant as it can't be charged via USB c to c). The frother itself cycles between different levels of speed when you press the button and it is pretty strong; being able to very easily swirl and mix large amounts of coffee leaving mine nice and frothy. I've also been using this to mix drink powder mixes to great effectiveness. The other attatchments don't really hold too much value to me (other than maybe the whisk for eggs) but is nice to have other options included. Overall this frother is a massive step up over me using a spoon to stir my coffee.

My coffee is now judging your coffee.
I’m a simple man. All I wanted was decent foam on my morning coffee without paying $7 at Starbucks like a sucker. What I got instead is this charcoal black, LED-equipped, triple-whisk, rocket-powered milk frother that feels like it should have a NASA logo on it. This thing has three speeds and an actual digital battery display. I caught myself staring at the 1% accuracy battery percentage like it was the stock market. “We’re at 87%… we’re still frothing kings today.” The magnetic charging dock is so satisfying it should be illegal. I literally say “goodnight” to it when I put it back on the stand. The spring whisk? Velvety microfoam so perfect my wife asked if I was having an affair with a barista. The balloon whisk made whipped cream so fluffy my kids thought it was a cloud that fell into their hot chocolate. And the hook whisk? Blended my protein shake with zero lumps, a miracle previously only achieved by professional athletes and people with patience. Battery life is ridiculous. I’ve been using it twice a day for two weeks and it’s still at 64%. This frother could survive a zombie apocalypse better than I could. The only real downside? I now judge other people’s coffee foam in public. Saw a sad flat latte the other day and whispered “that man doesn’t own the Dropology frother…” If you like coffee, matcha, hot chocolate, or just feeling like a kitchen god, buy this immediately. It’s the most over-engineered $30-ish gadget I’ve ever loved. 10/10 would froth again.

Powerful and I love the charging base and attachments
This is surprisingly more powerful than I thought it would be. It will whip up an egg for scrambled eggs as well as froth your milk. It came with 3 attachments and a charging base. You can charge it using the base or directly in to the frother using the included usbc. I have had battery operated frothers that really weren't that great. This one is blows them all away. I use it mainly to stir my coffee and scramble my eggs and I'm sure I will find many more ways to use it. Its a great value and looks nice on my counter top.
