Those of us in addiction recovery need to know: we are not alone among humanity; our story is not uncommon in history; weÕre not beyond the help of God; and God has been rescuing His ruined people since the beginning of time.

This book is a proclamation of this truth.

Each chapter of the book focuses on a single Step of recovery. With each Step I propose a Principle and a Reality, and I offer a brief reflection on the Step. IÕve chosen a few Scripture verses related to the Step; and I include a short commentary on the Scripture itself. Each chapter includes a workbook or journal reflection and discussion prompts. Each chapter concludes with a proclamation, a statement of God and His work.

Such an engaging read for this adult. How many books for older children have a Palestinian American main character as engaging as Ida? Not since Amani in "The Shepherd's Granddaughter" by Anne Laurel Carter (2010) or Liyana in "Habibi" by Naomi Shihab Nye (1997). We need diverse books and MORE of them. They are good food for discussion.
