Francis Méan werd in 1952 geboren in Luik, België. Hij studeerde aan de Hogere School voor Schone Kunsten St. Luc in Luik. Aanvankelijk legde hij zich toe op schilderen en etsen. Na verloop van tijd ontdekte hij ook artistieke expressie in de derde dimensie en creëerde hij een groot aantal bronzen sculpturen in verschillende formaten. Méan vond zijn individuele stijl aan het einde van de jaren 1970. Schilderkunst, grafiek en beeldhouwkunst versmelten in zijn werk. Francis Méan is vertegenwoordigd in een groot aantal galerieën en musea.
